The Construction Surveying Project Manager is responsible for directing and coordinating the efforts of multiple Field Survey Crew teams through the Survey Crew Chiefs.
The Construction Surveying Project Manager is responsible for the successful and accurate completion of various types of survey projects as a result of guiding, managing, and leading the construction department's surveyors and CAD Technicians.
The Construction Surveying Project Manager is a liaison between the surveying department and new or existing construction clients.
The Project Manager assists the Director with scheduling surveying crews, providing quality assurance for deliverables, and coordinating with staff, clients, sub-consultants, and government entities.
In addition, the ability to teach and demonstrate intermediate to advanced surveying techniques is essential.
The ability to adapt to changing project needs and schedules, make technical and managerial decisions, present changing situations in a constructive manner to the Crew Chiefs and teams, and plan for and complete projects on time, is essential.
Responsibilities of a Construction Surveying Project Manager:
Prepare proposals and contracts Direct manage and lead Crew Chiefs, field staff, office staff, field crews, and surveying technicians, and coordinate with civil engineering staff to complete multiple, concurrent projects efficiently, on-time, and on-budget Conduct deed and plan research and review Prepare weekly survey crew schedules Provide CAD oversight and quality assurance Manage and monitor project schedules, budgets, and deliverables Will use Trimble Survey field equipment, Trimble Access, and Survey Pro Has working knowledge and experience to oversee construction layout, ALTA/NSPS, boundary, as-built, control, right-of-way, specific purpose, and topographic surveys Develops teaching and training initiatives with Crew Chiefs in survey and mapping methods, equipment operation, and field safety procedures.
Consult with existing and potential clients to develop project scope, deliverables, and action plans Requirements of a Construction Surveying Project Manager :
High School diploma or equivalent Eligible for reciprocal surveying licensure Ability to review drawings and sign and seal surveys A history of increasing hands-on management, and leadership responsibilities within the land surveying profession resulting in 3 - 10 years of Surveying Project Management experience Hands-on experience with Trimble Survey field equipment, Trimble Access, and Survey Pro (highly preferred) AutoCAD experience required Hands-on experience processing survey data; processing traverse data, network adjustments, analyzing and processing GPS networks, calculating level loops, and analytics software FDOT knowledge including surveying and mapping requirements preferred, however, the ability to pivot current knowledge from other states to learn and apply FDOT requirements is required.
Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record Proficiency with data collection equipment Willing to learn new technologies, techniques, methods, and systems The ability and desire to work in different weather environments including summer heat, rain, etc.
The ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
