Job Description:
The Undergraduate Library Advisor position will work as a part of a peer mentor program involving a cohort of undergraduate student leaders representing, promoting, and teaching for the UF Libraries.
In this position, Library Advisors will have the opportunity to learn more about the library while working collaboratively on projects designed to help other UF students.
Library Advisors will begin remotely with the possibility of on campus activities starting in fall 2023.
As part of this position, Library Advisors will participate in trainings with the librarians on library services, information literacy, and teaching strategies in a weekly group meeting with their peer cohort.
Each member of the cohort will also work on an individual project to create new instructional resources for UF students, with special emphasis on outreach to new and first-generation college students.
Some potential projects include, but are not limited to the following ideas:
Creating content for the libraries' social media page, newsletters and exhibits Serve as a mentor to undergraduate students in other UF programs such as Innovation Academy Outreach and connection building with student organizations, and distribution of the ULA library guide.
Film and narrate library tour videos for all of George A.
Smathers Libraries Advocate for your professor to use library services such as course reserves Participate in library tabling events Conduct library tours Your choice - propose something you're passionate about! We are excited for participants to bring their own perspectives and experiences as UF students into the libraries' conversation about our services, spaces, and teaching.
Expected Salary:
$12.

Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Ability to work collaboratively and independently Must be an undergraduate student and have second-year or higher standing by start date Able to be friendly and approachable Able to be punctual, reliable, and work ten hours per week Capable of working independently once trained Basic computer and web searching skills Preferred
