The Charge Nurse is responsible for directing patient care for designated shifts.
The purpose of this position is to supervise, provide and coordinate nursing care in compliance with facility policies and procedures and to evaluate residents' care needs and take appropriate action Essential Job Functions Registered Nurse Evaluates resident needs on shift and makes staff assignments to best meet those needs.
Registered Nurse Supervises and evaluates all direct resident care and initiates corrective action as necessary.
Registered Nurse Assists staff nurses in their evaluation of resident needs and in direct resident care.
Registered Nurse Orders medications as prescribed.
Registered Nurse Conducts resident rounds daily, reporting problems to nursing supervisor and initiating corrective action.
Registered Nurse Identifies resident problems and emergency situations and initiates emergency care and life-saving measures in the absence of a physician.
Charge Nurse Makes nursing assignments for the day.
Charge Nurse Oversees shift turnover.
Charge Nurse Obtains, records, and provides sufficient information to implement appropriate follow-up action as necessary.
Other Job Functions Provides direct RN nursing care to residents as needed.
RN Participates in staff conferences.
RN Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements Minimum Requirements Education:
Associates degree in Nursing, or equivalent is required.
Experience:
Experience performing the essential functions of the position is desirable.
Certification/License:
Florida Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing is required.
Candidates are required to attain and maintain CPR certification within 90 days after hire.
State background check standards must be maintained as a condition of continued employment in accordance with Florida Statutes Chapters 435 and 408.
