Registered Nurse-Surgical Specialty Clinics
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
The RN's during check in patient process will be responsible for perform patient assessment, verify medication order /medication administration, verify any laboratory order and results. They are responsible for assisting with clinic procedures, verifying patient assessment, patient medication, patient teaching and post-op instructions will be done. RN's are responsible for maintaining a high level of clinical practice through the use of nursing standards and hospital policy while working effectively with professional and supportive personnel who provide care. Other duties include but not limited to:
planning, organizing and when appropriate, directing and supervising activities of others to complete assignments and a safe and timely manner. The RN will be responsible for setting up diagnostic and therapeutic medical instruments and equipment as a part of the treatment of the patients. Determines the technical factors and sets controls for the operation of equipment and instruments. Sets up standard equipment for simple to complex procedures. Maintain sterility of instruments and supplies used to perform procedures. Reports equipment malfunction and abnormalities to the provider. The RN cleans surgical equipment and instruments, removing gross contamination from equipment by rinsing and or use of other solvents that are required. Supports the provider and other members of the health care team with locating and assembling needed equipment for the procedures. Work Schedule:

The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience.
