Inventory Management Specialist

The Inventory Management Specialist serves as a Inventory Manager in the Expendable Management Division of Supply Chain Management Service with responsibility for the inventory management of all expendable supplies and durable medical equipment (DME) in the assigned areas at North Florida South Georgia Veteran Health System and supported catchment area. Duties include:
Conduct data and information analysis for acquisition planning associated with durable medical equipment. Develop and support the creation of acquisition strategies and standardization initiatives to acquire and purchase durable medical equipment. Utilize best practices, principles and tools, concepts and methodologies to determine and evaluate supply system performance. Plan and review all inventory processes, functions, and related systems. Maintain perpetual inventory accounts for expendable items. Conduct wall-to-wall and periodic inventories. Conduct market research on product pricing and performance. Research opportunities for and conduct analysis of potential cost savings, efficiencies, and process improvements using quantitative and historical usage patterns. Identify and rectify inventory management issues. Conduct short, mid and long-term advanced planning for expendable items and durable medical equipment. Perform analytical work to manage, regulate, coordinate and exercise control over expendable supplies. Analyze and advise customers on supply and durable medical equipment purchase recommendations. Conduct data and information analysis for acquisition planning associated with durable medical equipment. Determine the means and methods to resolve issues and improve operations. Administer an expendable inventory management program. Coordinate with property managers for disposal of surplus or excess supplies. Coordinate with various program managers regarding sources of supply and acceptable solutions. Advise and inform stakeholders concerning the management, control and accountability of expendable items in use. Serve as the central focal point for all exchanges of information regarding the status of expendable material managed. Make numerous daily contacts with various people to pro-actively plan, coordinate work or advise on efforts. Maintain inventory control records in an automated system. Comply and analyze performance measures and implements process improvements. Conduct effectiveness and efficiency reviews. Analyze, coordinate and control management of stock items to support preparation of long-range forecasts. Utilize automated inventory management systems to maintain current inventory data. Research and develop solutions to complex and routine problems. Trace sequences of inventory management transactions to resolve questions. Manage inventory, independently set initial stock and par levels, and reorder points and resolve issues. Make emergent procurement decisions. Promotion Potential:

You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Qualifying Specialized Experience is:
managing a variety of expendable items and durable medical equipment; forecasting short and long range inventory needs; analyzing inventory management reports and the effectiveness of various options proposed to provide supply support; utilizing automated inventory management systems to maintain current inventory data; researching and analyzing information to resolve questions and issues, and implementing federal and agency programs for the return and reutilization of medical supplies. NOTE:

Must maintain applicable training and licensing to operate assigned equipment.
