Motor Vehicle Operator-Supervisor

The Supervisor Motor Vehicle Operator is responsible for effectively and efficiently assisting with all duties related to transportation staffing and provides day-to-day leadership and supervision. The Motor Vehicle Operator Supervisor reports directly to the Supervisory Program Specialist. Duties include:
Supervises all Motor Vehicle Operators, assigns and directs work Conducts performance evaluations, handles complaints and grievances within assigned section Plans the sequence of operations for subordinates and establishes deadlines and priorities Manages the daily work schedule, approves leave and performs timekeeping Coordinates the work for Shuttle Operations and Patient Transportation Operations for the assigned VA Medical Centers; coordinates transportation needs for departments throughout the facilities Ensures Preventive Maintenance is performed on assigned vehicles daily Ensures vehicles are clean and equipped with supplies Trains subordinates on safety practices, hospital policies and procedures Manages the Vehicle Safety Program Prepares memos, purchase orders and equipment requests through the use of written/computer software, e-mails, and verbal communications Generates reports, determine costs, prepare program budget forecasts, makes recommendations and take actions crucial to the programs daily business operations Work Schedule:

Experience:

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
Work performed is sedentary office type work as well as walking and checking vehicle safety. Incumbent must be physically able to stand, stoop, turn, crouch and balance in difficult positions. The employee must be able to lift 25 pounds when necessary. Required to operate a Government-owned or leased vehicle to properly carry out assigned duties as needed. Pre-Placement Examination Requirement:
All motor vehicle operators and incidental drivers shall undergo a standard pre-placement examination and periodic medical evaluation at least once every 4 years to ensure that employees who operate government owned or leased vehicles are medically able to do so without undue risk to themselves or others. To qualify as an incidental operator, an employee must possess a valid State license, have a safe driving record, pass a road test, and demonstrate that he or she is medically qualified to operate the appropriate motor vehicle safely. A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
