Social Worker (Program Coordinator-Intimate Partner Violence)

The Social Worker Program Coordinator is located in the Social Work Service, and serves as an interdisciplinary team member and must be a team player. Advises and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams throughout the medical center on Intimate Partner Violence. Creates educational tools, develops programs and implements training. Provides education and in-service training to VA employees, Veterans, families and caregivers, and other governmental and non-governmental community partners. Facilitates individual and group sessions (face-to-face or VANTS telephone line) and educational programs. Distributes educational materials provided by VA, local, state and national organizations. The overall responsibilities of the Social Worker Program Coordinator-Intimate Partner Violence include but are not limited to:
Serves as the champion for advancing conversations on Intimate Partner Violence among all clinical disciplines across all NF/SG VHS. The Social Worker Program Coordinator is responsible for developing, tracking and monitoring program goals and reporting them as needed to internal and external stakeholders. The Social Worker Program Coordinator is responsible for attending local, VISN and National program calls and trainings to stay current on program implementation, trends and use knowledge gained to evaluate NF/SG VHS program efficiency and effectiveness. Provides multi-disciplinary education, ongoing training, and orientation of new staff across all services and locations of NF/SG VHS. The Social Worker Program Coordinator routinely consults with variety of internal and external stakeholders on Intimate Partner Violence to accomplish the work of the program. The Social Worker Program Coordinator is responsible for own clinical services provided, must assess on-going training needs, and develop/implement training programs to maximize clinical efficiently and effectively. Manages all data for the program and can use this data toward performance improvement efforts to improve the effectiveness and efficiency for all aspects of the program. The Social Worker Program Coordinator must be a skilled communicator capable of developing effective partnerships within the VA, local, state and other federal agencies, as well as non-governmental organizations. Participates in direct Veteran face-to-face clinic contracts, telephone contacts, Clinical Video Tele-health contacts, Video on Demand contacts and other ways of communication to generate workload for the purpose of the development and application of directed clinical treatment interventions to carry out the program goals. Possess skills in presenting orally and in writing to a wide range of internal and external customers at all levels of organizations. Skills in Microsoft Office programs, such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is essential for the position. Expertise in execution of data management/evaluation is critical to this position. The Social Worker Program Coordinator will exercise mature professional judgment and use a wide range of clinical skills. Participates in the student training program, new employee orientation, as well as, serve on facility, VISN, and national committees and workgroups with supervisory approval. Work Schedule:

A master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited. Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-0185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level. Physical Requirements:

Possess extensive clinical knowledge pertaining to Intimate Partner Violence with Veterans and there families. Possess advance knowledge and training/conversations on Intimate Partner Violence among all clinical disciplines across all NF/SGVHS. Possess knowledge of program implementation, trends and extensive knowledge gained to evaluate NF/SGVHS program efficiency and effectiveness. Grade Determinations at GS-12:

Experience:
Possess one year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills and judgment, demonstrating progressively more professional competency. Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. 2. Licensure/Certification:
Individuals assigned as social worker program coordinator must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure. 3. Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
In addition to the experience and licensure above, the candidate must demonstrate all of the following KSAs:
(a) Knowledge of program coordination and administration which includes consultation, negotiation, and monitoring. (b) Knowledge and ability to write policies, procedures, and/or practice guidelines for the program. (c) Ability to supervise multidisciplinary staff assigned to the program. (d) Skill in organizing work, setting priorities, meeting multiple deadlines, and evaluating assigned program area(s). (e) Ability to provide training, orientation, and guidance within clinical practice. References:

The Social Worker Program Coordinator is required to drive and/or travel using personal vehicle or government vehicle to other sites of care within the NF/SG VHS, as well as, to community partners, as necessary to accomplish work assigned. Travel can be for long periods of time each day, with commute time in some instances ranging from 3-4 hours in one direction. Travel is expected at least 50% of work week.
