Administrative Officer (Emergency Department)

The Administrative Officer, Emergency Services, will fill the administrative duties of both the Lake City VAMC and the Gainesville Emergency Service. The position will directly report to the Chief of the Emergency Service. The primary purpose of the Administrative Officer is to provide administrative leadership and support to the service's clinical leadership in support of the Emergency Services throughout the health care system. Duties Include:
Sets priorities and establishes work schedules, approves leave requests Plans and assigns work and evaluates performance for assigned staff, recommends promotions and awards, identifies training needs, recommends disciplinary actions Responsible for Human Resources management such as initiating requests for recruitment, interviewing and selecting employees Coordinates performance appraisal rating activities, maintains position descriptions Establishes and maintains effective management and information systems Collects, analyzes and validates various data concerning patient care and administrative activities and generates reports. Validates workload to assure the accuracy of the data in Emergency Department Information System and other workload databases Maintains various spreadsheets, performs database administration functions such as developing queries, reports, modifying or developing database views and manage backup and recovery operations Monitors and process incoming phone calls and service administrative documents Manages filing systems, ensure timekeeping is completed timely and efficiently Responds to outside requires for information and works promptly on executive requests Assists in the processing of all administrative forms and works with administrative staff within the service Coordinates credentialing and privileging process and maintenance of files in accordance with review agencies such as Joint Commission on Accreditation and Office of Inspector General Processes incoming documents Work Schedule:

Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:
knowledge of healthcare delivery system, medical center policies and procedures and regulations as they relate to many different clinical functions; knowledge of clinical practices as they relate to Emergency Services; demonstrated knowledge of VA programs and operations, policies and procedures; knowledge of personal computer word processing, spreadsheet, and data base programs; applying analysis and research techniques; preparing or participating in the development of confidential reports or summaries of data OR, Education:
Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have an master's or equivalent graduate degree that demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work, OR two (2) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work, OR an LL.B. or J.D. in a related field that demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work. Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond one year of graduate level. This must be an equivalent combination of qualifying specialized experience and education; together they total to 100% of the requirement. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
