Supervisory Supply Technician
The overall responsibilities of the Supervisory Supply Technician include, but are not limited to:
Supervises a team of supply technicians in the distribution area to provide supplies and material to the VA Health Care System and supported catchment area. Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work. Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees. Develops and executes staff training. Maintaining stock at primary and secondary inventory locations for all clinical and administrative services Ensuring critical supplies are appropriately monitored and controlled. Performing daily inventory of primary and secondary inventory points using bar coding equipment on a predetermined schedule that will allow for timely replenishment orders. Resolving differences between records and physical count of stock. Distributing items according to established or ad hoc requirements using the generic inventory package (GIP). Maintains stock levels, returns reusable supplies to the distribution area, and informs clinic and ward personnel on new or changed items and supplies, current medical supply resources, and shelf life. Performs other duties as assigned. Work Schedule:

You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Qualifying Specialized Experience includes:
Planning and coordinating work to be accomplished by subordinate staff; Establishing priorities for a supply chain department; Overseeing the receipt and distribution of supplies and materials for a complex medical center; Maintaining stock at inventory locations; Monitoring expiration dates of supply inventory; Ensuring supplies are delivered timely; Training new inventory management employees and answering questions on local processes and procedures; Ensuring proper storage of supplies and materials; Resolving problems and providing guidance to others on logistics activities; and Making recommendations on improvement of wok production and quality of work regarding supply chain management. You will also be considered, based on the following Competencies for this position:

Work is normally accomplished within a supply office and supply distribution points with the majority of time utilizing the automated inventory system for inventory management, processing orders, distributing supplies, conducting physical inventories in the warehouse and various supply points. Responsible for the storage and distribution of supplies to both primary and secondary inventory points, as well as within the bulk supply areas. This may include movement of stock to assist in counting, storing, rotating, and retrieving items from shelves and cabinets. Physical exertions and demands include standing, walking, bending, stretching, reaching, and pushing/pulling supply carts and lifting supplies up to 50 pounds are required. Works primarily in a supply office and supply distribution points that support the Storage and Distribution of supplies. Multiple interruptions are experience throughout the day resulting from telephone and personal contacts with individuals requiring information, guidance, or problem solving. Protective and special clothing is worn to prevent exposure to dangerous materials; hair covers, shoe covers, and gloves are worn as required when delivering supplies into clean/sterile areas and managing verification of inventory stock levels within the primaries. Physical dispersion of the facility may make it necessary to make deliveries over uneven terrain and/or in adverse weather conditions.
