Reimbursable Billing Technician

Assigns disposition instructions, and implements the most responsive and cost-effective means for managing them. Independently researches, analyzes, generates, and corrects Veteran's First Party co-payments for care as it pertains to a variety of complex VA programs. Accesses, retrieves, manages, and processes various revenue reports. Accesses various menu options to identify, review, analyze, process and complete First Party and Third Party encounters and billing-related activities. Resolves operational problems as it applies to Veterans accounts in other units within CPAC. Assists in synchronizing and the operationalization of all revenue activities regarding Care in the Community with the various agencies. Applies analytical and evaluation techniques to determine if First Party co-payment bills are appropriate. Work Schedule:

Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note:

Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Identifies, reviews, analyzes, process and completes co-payments and insurance encounters and other billing related activities. Resolves operational problems as it applies to patient accounts. Provides customer service to meets the needs of the customer. Provides information to patients, their families, advocates, internal and external governmental agencies and/or elected officials. Applies analytical and evaluation techniques to determine if co-payment bills are appropriate. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position:

Physical Requirements:
The work is primarily sedentary with long periods of sitting at a desk, working with computers daily. Some work may require walking in offices and similar areas for meetings. Work may also require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite. The work does not require any special physical effort. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
