This position involves skilled work in general cooking and food preparation duties for the Food Service Department.

EXAMPLE OF WORK

Prepared and cooks, meats, vegetables, soups and gravies following standardized recipes

for the breakfast, lunch and dinner meals.

Supervises the work of the Support Service Aides.
May be required on occasion, to either drive or help deliver and pick up food carts and equipment from residential buildings.

Portions and pans hot food items for tray line.

Maintains work areas in a clean and sanitary condition.
Cleans grills, stoves, cooking vats, kitchen equipment, serving utensils and floors.

Sets up and backs the staff cafeteria serving line making sure that leftovers are utilized on both shifts.
Makes sure that the staff cafeteria serving line is continually stocked with food so that no items run out.

Serves as a shift s supervisor in the absence for the Food Production and Service Supervisor.

Prepares food for and sets up trays for residents on special diets.
Checks the special diet trays before they leave the kitchen in the absence of the Food Production and Service Supervisor.

Will have to run the cashier register in the absence of the cashier.
Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Not applicable for this class, but the ability to follow oral and written instructions would be beneficial.

Prior food Service experience is desirable, but not required.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this position work a rotating schedule.
Days off each week will vary.

The assigned shift is from 05:

Must be able to work weekends, holidays and extra hours on occasion.
